Specialist of the "excellent sleep" since 1835 the Rom establishment guarantees for service and excellent quality. It built its reputation on the natural down from outstanding sources and the best selection of goose down.

A good quilt must be light and insulating. Let's found on a little physics to understand the reasons of the high thermal insulation quality that  down do offer.

The fibers of down are expanded in all directions so that when several down clusters are superimposed, they create in teir interstices an incredible volume of insulating air conferring its insulating character thus. Tests of laboratory showed that a good down has twice the insulating capacities of those of wool. It is also the huge quantity of insulating air contained in the down that assures a nice warmth in winter and that fresh and light feeling you get with a summer down quilt.

A good quilt must be hygroscopic and must permit the breathing of our entire body. Not only the thermal insulation, but also the evacuation of the humidity is indispensable to permit a restful and natural sleep. Indeed the human body eliminates every night at least 0,2 liters of perspiration. The quilt as the mattress absorbs this humidity and restore it to the air of the room. A quilt provides an adequate climate thus to the body, nor too humid nor too dry. This balanced climate has advantageous effects on the blood circulation and prevents rheumatic pains - but before all down procures a comfort and an incomparable soft sensation while you sleep!

A sophisticated system of stitching and sewing avoids local strokes of cold while permitting a uniform distribution of down: it prevents its crowding on one hand of the quilt: your body is uniformly protected.

To take full advantages of a quilt in down, the choice of the material of the slipcover is not without consequence. Only pure cotton - or the linen - and a natural color permit the evacuation of humidity. It would be a pity to loose the natural qualities of down by the use of colored  slipcovers or a silken treatment that would turn a quilt into a raincoat-like air barrier.
